The database has now been set up and research is being added daily. We will be launching this latest part of the website very soon, we will keep you updated.
Miners’ Gala
We are working full steam ahead for the Miners’ Gala on Saturday 12th July. We will be located in the Durham County Council marquee on the racecourse. The Durham Miner Project will have:
- Word-searches and colouring sheets.
- Quiz and ‘design a banner’ competitions
- Oral history sound bites
- A large timeline display of coal mining history, using research by course participants.
- Sessions throughout the day on how to research your local mining history.
- Display of photographs of local mining interest.
So come along and enjoy a great day out and a trip into Durham’s mining past.
We would especially welcome a visit from our course participants; you may see some of your work on display.
New Courses
We are still running some of our local mining history courses during the summer so check the course timetable for details. There are a lot of courses beginning in September and these are also listed on the course timetable.
Technical Problems Sorted
The technical problems we have been experiencing with our e-mail address have now been sorted. If you do encounter any more problems please get in touch with one of the team. Apologies to those of you who have experienced difficulties.
