Durham Miner Project starts digging up the past...
Members of the Durham Miner team are no longer moles hidden away in the dark in County Hall attached to a computer. We are now out and about in the community delivering our free courses to anyone who is interested.
New Courses Added
We are constantly adding new courses to our timetable so please check regularly for an update. If we have not planned a course already in your area and you are interested please give us a ring or e-mail any of the team, we will be glad to hear from you.
Welcome to Jeanette Newell
Jeanette Newell has recently joined the Durham Miner Project. Jeanette's role, alongside helping Sharon deliver local mining history courses in the west, is to co-ordinate the local history events that the Durham Miner will be involved in this year. Jeanette is having fun at the moment with arrangements for the "Yesterday Belongs to You" event. "Yesterday Belongs to You" is a biannual event and will be held at County Hall on Saturday 5th April. The event gives local history organisations a chance to display and promote their work and is a wonderful day out for all of the family. The Durham Miner will be also be organising activities that day and displaying some of the work participants on the local mining history courses have completed. It promises to be a really good day and is free so make a note of the date in your diaries.
Annfield Plain Pilot Course
Our pilot course at Annfield Plain went very well and we got lots of useful feedback from the group. We will soon be running a pilot course for the second level course and we are extremely grateful to the Annfield Plain local history group for volunteering to do this for us.

Website developments
We have made plans for the Durham Miner website to be developed. The new look site will hopefully be launched at the beginning of April in time for the "Yesterday Belongs to You" event mentioned earlier.
