Catch the Last Shift

The last round of Durham Miner courses will begin in January, you can check dates and times on our course timetable. If you know of any groups of people who would like to hold a course in their area please get in touch with one of the team as we do have some spare slots available.

Big Meeting

On Monday 15th December the Durham Miner Project held it's 'Big Meeting' at County Hall, over 150 people attended. These included course participants, digitisers, County Council staff who have assisted with the project and representatives from the project partners.

After speeches and a wonderful poem from Betty Whaley everyone had lunch. Music from Benny Graham added a musical note to the day. There was then the oppportunity to look at some of the research completed by our course participants both on the displays and on the Internet. The event had all of the pizazz of a Durham Miners' Gala with people from different areas meeting and chatting and exchanging information.

'Showcasing Success' aimed to 'demonstrate the meaning of lifelong learning and provide inspiration to us all in striving to achieve more in our everyday lives.'
