The 'Online Learning' area of our website is made up of interactive 'seminars' which provides users with the opportunity to develop research skills and take part in 'self-assessments', testing knowledge they have gained.
Launching a Module
From the
Online Learning page, click on a 'seminar' title. Next click the 'Begin' button, as shown below, to start the module.
Quitting a Module
You can quit an Online Learning Module and return to the Durham Miner website at any time, simply follow these steps:
- Click the 'Contents' arrow
- Select 'Leave the module' at the bottom of the contents list
- Click 'Quit' on the seminar screen
Navigating the Online Learning Modules
Arrows and Buttons
Use the 'Continue' button to move to the next screen within the module:
Alternatively, use the 'Previous' and 'Next' arrows to move between screens:
The 'Contents' or 'Up' arrow can be used to reveal a list of the sections within each module. Click on a section title to jump straight to that section.
Clickable Text
Within the Online Learning modules any text which is underlined is clickable. By Clicking on underlined text you will find further information will appear in the form of a pop-up text box. To close the pop-up box click 'OK'.
'Self Assessment' Questions
Blocks of 'self assessment' questions will appear as you work your way through the Online Learning modules. These take the form of either 'multiple choice' questions or 'yes/no' questions. Click on an answer for each question and click 'OK'. You will then be made aware of which of your answers are correct, or be given tips on how to find the right answer.
Images
There are many images included in the Online Learning modules. You can find out more information about an individual image by clicking on it. A pop-up box will appear. Once you have read the information click 'OK' to close the pop-up box.

All of the images within the Online Learning modules are protected by copyright regulations. By using the modules you are agreeing to comply with copyright licensing regulations. These state that your use of the image is for personal use only, and that you will not copy, publish or distribute the image in any way.
