Electoral Review of the New County Durham Unitary Council

The Boundary Committee for England has begun its first round of public consultation as part of its review of electoral arrangements for the new County Durham unitary council.

The first stage of the review ran for 9 weeks from 15 July 2008 to 15 September 2008. The Committee consulted locally to help decide how many councillors the new Council should have. Anyone interested was encouraged to make their views known. Stage two of the review is now underway and will run from 16 September 2008 to 21 October 2008. The Boundary Committee will be deliberating on the County Council's submission to Stage 1 of the review and prepare some draft recommendations.

To find out more background about the review and how you can get involved, please see the following press release issued by the Electoral Commission. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view this information.
