Durham County Council Sustainability Event, County Hall, Durham

A two day Sustainability Event, featuring a conference and exhibition, was recently organised by Corporate Procurement and actively supported by the Sustainable Development team to raise awareness of the huge change agenda and its impact upon our communities

Collectively we have been developing the building blocks of sustainable business solutions and have been mapping out the implications & impacts with our suppliers, colleagues and key stakeholders to build awareness, capacity and internal capability.

The Conference attracted both national & regional speakers and was attended by over 140 people including internal and external council representatives/officers, external agencies and schools.

The conference had differing themes for the two days. The morning of Day One featured an introduction to Sustainability with the afternoon session devoted to practical examples. Day Two featured sustainability and food together with Fair Trade and Well Being/Nutrition.

The Exhibition element of the event was supported by some of the Council’s key current suppliers and teams from within the Council and featured a sustainable theme.
